Sometimes you get a huge craving for sushi, and a regular size plate of sushi isn’t enough. What you need is tabehodai (Lit. “all you can eat“) sushi. For a fixed price and a fixed time, you can eat as much sushi as humanly possible.

Now, like other types of all you can eat buffet restaurants, some sushi-ya are better than others. Today, we focus on tabehodai with the order system, meaning that you tell your chef what you want, and then they will make them one by one for you, by hands. No dried looking sushi. Everything you get there is super fresh.

Without farther adue, here is our list of 5 Best Sushi All You Can Eat Restaurants in Japan (Tokyo).

No. 1 Umegaoka Zushi Midori Sohonten 梅丘寿司 美登利総本店

Lively chefs, freshest sushi and great green tea – Umegaoka Zushi Midori Souhonten is simply one of the most delightful sushi restaurants you’ll ever find in Tokyo. They do tabehodai for 3,888 yen for men and 3,240 yen for women all day on every Monday. Make sure you are hungry enough to survive the 90 minutes of sushi paradise.

Here is the catch, though. You might have to wait for a long, long time before you get seated. Like a few hours at times. Even if you are not there for tabehodai, you are in the same queue with tabehodai hunters. Lunch and dinner times in particular are crazy. Our advice: go there earlier than you plan to have lunch or dinner, pick a ticket and go explore the vicinity. Or go there between lunch time and dinner time, like 2 or 3pm will do for lunch, or have early dinner like 5pm. You’ll wait less. Waiting is all worth it.

Make sure you try Anago Ippon Nigiri, their signature sushi.
