It’s been ten years? Wow, time does fly. I’m not fussy about haircare products, but every time I turn to a shampoo bottle in the bathroom (both in Japan and overseas), I know that I’m using Tsubaki. Shiseido Celebrates the 10th Year Anniversary of Tsubaki Haircare Brand!
In case you are not sure what Tsubaki is, it’s a Japanese word for camellia. It has become Shiseido’s signature product series and my whole family loves the product.
I have a feeling (which I had for quite some time now), though, that the reason why they love it is singer/songwriter/actor Masaharu Fukuyama. He is apparently one of the most loved men in the Japanese show business and he advertises the Tsubaki series.
In one of the recent ads, he was shampooing a beautiful Japanese actress (in fact, she is the daughter of Ken Watanabe). The latest commercial on the 10th year anniversary also features him (even though he married this year, which shocked hundreds of thousands of his fans in Japan…).
Tsubaki flowers are rich
Japanese Tsubaki flowers are rich in oleic and linoleic acid, which are readily absorbed by skin and hair. Tsubaki hair care products contain tsubaki extract and its series come with three different types to choose from.
Tsubaki Extra Moist infuses body, sheen, and moisture into fine, dry, or even thick hair. Suitable for normal to dry hair and you’ll feel the difference even after one wash.
Tsubaki Damage Care penetrates into hair to repair damage. Made especially for dry, permed, sun-damaged, color-treated and coarse hair.
Tsubaki Volume Touch gives the needed volume to flat hair. Suitable for fine and thinning hair. This is the Tsubaki we have had in our bathroom for a long time, and I know it really works well for my family’s hair.
Now, Shiseido always celebrates anniversaries in style. They are doing two cool things for a limited time.
First, they collaborate with Mika Ninagawa
First, they collaborate with Mika Ninagawa. She is a Japanese photographer and director, known for her vibrant and brightly colored photographs of flowers, goldfish, and landscapes. What did Mika do for Shiseido Tsubaki? She turned one ordinary sento public bath into a Tsubaki heaven “Tsubaki Bath”. Inside is decorated with tsubaki and you get to try out Tsubaki products while having a bath.
